31. Ode To An Eggplant

Oh, little eggplant.
Misunderstood, little eggplant.
With your purple color,
And zucchini-like taste,

Alone in the fridge,
Or forgotten in a store,
Slowly going mushy.

Clearly unwanted and unloved.

32. Tiny Eyes

There he stood
Beneath the skies
Moonlight glinting
In his eyes
I watched him walking
Through the trees
Fearing what
This meant for me

He called me closer
To my surprise
And led me past
The leering eyes
Once alone
He took my hand
And brought me to
This bright new land

Though elven prince
He seems to be
He pledged his heart
To only me
The tiny eyes
That hid before
Now watched us walk
Onto the floor

There we danced
All through the night
And so we kissed
Under fairy light
Such a kiss
Has not been seen
By human eyes
Or mortal means

Thank you, I like that bit too.

I've been working on this one all month, off and on. Quite proud of most of it, but the last few lines still bug me. I found it hard getting my point across so it sounded write. I would have hidden in away for another few weeks had the contest not ended today.


33. Just Another Day

I turn the music on
I send the volume up
I watch mascara run
Swiftly down my face
I fall onto my bed
I cry myself to sleep
I'm waking up too late
I'm scolded, then alone
They don't seem to care
It's just another day

Bus arrives at school
A crowd of empty minds
I'm searching for a face
One that I can't find
I drift these empty halls
There's no one that I know
They're laughing as I pass
Watching my walls break
They don't seem to care
It's just another day

The water's getting hot
I'm slowly sinking down
I'm thinking of my end
There's no one around
This is how you chose to
Take out your revenge
Leave us all alone here
With nothing but this pain
Thinking we don't care
It's just another day

Wow, I'm glad you liked it so much. I really wasn't sure how well it'd go over.

This one took forever to do, but I think it turned out alright.

35. Common Once

'Twas long ago and far away
The world was different than today
Common once we're lacking now
Circlets resting on noble's brow

Midwinter's night so cold and dark
Feasts aplenty, all take part
To celebrate the passing year
Families together, nothing to fear

To close knit groups a bard will play
Lords and Ladies dance and sway
A maiden standing in the snow
True love's first kiss under winter's glow

No longer lasts this romantic time
Storybook love now bought for a dime
Knights last only in our heart
From once upon a time, we part.
